A Pre-Heated Engine is Environmentally Friendly When air temperatures are less than 20˚F, starting a cold engine produces 50 to 100 times more greenhouse gas emissions in the first minute than starting a pre-warmed engine does. Warmed engines also deliver better fuel economy, plus improved oil flow provides better lubrication to the engine during start-up, which reduces wear and increases engine life. What is an Engine Heater? An Engine Heater is an electric heater that heats the engine of a car to give quicker starts in cold weather. They are connected to normal AC power overnight or before driving, via regular power outlets that are fed through a vehicle's grille.

This allows easier starting in cold temperatures, by keeping the coolant warm. Heaters are also available for motor oil so as to warm the oil and give the engine lubrication from the beginning of start-up.

The rapid heat circulation caused by block heaters also aids the initial vaporization of fuel in the engine; because of this effect, block heaters reduce pollution, as poor fuel vaporization causes much higher emissions. Types of Engine Heaters Frost Plug Heaters. Also referred to as Freeze Plug heaters, or simply Block Heaters.

The most reliable and efficient way to pre-heat your engine. Operates by being directly submerged into coolant and heating the block. Application Specific Part Numbers. Requires mechanical ability to install. Cartridge Style Engine Block Heater.

Interchangeable with the manufacturer’s original equipment – the only cost effective aftermarket solution available. Made of cast aluminum. Easy to install. Installs in engine block core hole. No longer necessary to remove frost plug or drain coolant – just coat with NSCG silicone grease G-624 (not included), insert, and clip into place. Original equipment for Toyota, Chrysler-Jeep, Hyundai, Kia, and General Motors applications (see application guide for details).

Simplified application information – Entire range of manufacturers applications covered by only five part numbers. Protecting your oil & transmission fluid Oil and transmission fluids thicken and do not circulate well at cold temperatures. Silicone pads and magnetic heaters transmit heat continuously to keep oils fluid, giving you instant lubrication when starting your engine. Types of Engine/Oil Heaters Handi-Heat 200 watt Magnetic Heater-Model # 1155 & 1153 (thermostatically controlled) Applications include:. Oil pan, intake manifold, battery holder or engine block. Snow blowers, chainsaws, snowmobiles, or other small engines. It may also be used for warming hydraulic systems or thawing frozen locks, pipes, gutters, livestock feeders, etc.

Protect your Battery A battery can lose 60% of its starting power when the temperature reaches 0⁰F. Cold Engines require more power from the battery at these temperatures. These two facts make it imperative that you use a battery blanket or pad to extend the life of your battery, and assist in your cold weather starting requirements. Types of Battery Heaters Battery Thermal Wrap. Vinyl covered, oil and acid resistant, pliable.

Introduction Congratulations on the purchase of your genuine Wolverine Heater. Proper installation will ensure you receive years of great performance. Please read the instructions before beginning installation. Installation Kit The following items are included in your installation kit: Qty. Description 1 Plastic scraper 1 Tube of high temperature silicone sealer 2 Plastic zip ties Before Installing Surface Must Be Because. Metal – aluminum, cast iron, steel, etc.

Melting and warping will occur if applied to a non-metallic surface. Not all oil pans are metal. Flat and smooth Heater must have total and complete contact with the installation surface. Bumps, ridges, ribs, fins, indentations, grooves, holes or part numbers Use metal composite filler. We recommend Uneven surface will cause uneven adhesion and heating. Warmed Installation surface and work area should be comfortably warm.

ATTENTION SAFETY AND WARRANTY CONDITIONS ATTACH HEATER TO METAL SURFACE ONLY! DO NOT CUT OR TRIM HEATER!! Yamaha service manual virago 250 german.

Manual

It will RUIN your new heater AND VOID WARRANTY. INSTALLATION SURFACE MUST BE ABSOLUTELY CLEAN AND FREE OF GRIT. USE SUPPLIED SEALER and PAD ADHESIVE ONLY. Installation Instructions Step Action 1. Remove all contaminants from selected installation area.

We Recommend DO NOT USE Acetone Gasoline/Diesel fuel Brakleen Spray penetrants Strong detergent followed by thorough rinse Solvents Wipe the surface to ensure area is completely dry and residue free. Scuff the installation area with sandpaper. Do not polish! Wipe the surface again to ensure area is completely dry, grit and residue free. Determine the best position for the power cord to be located.

Attach the first length of the power cord with a zip tie to prevent the weight of the cord from pulling down on the pad. Remove protective covering from pressure sensitive adhesive. AVOID TOUCHING THE ADHESIVE. Plug the heater in for 3 to 5 SECONDS to warm the adhesive, then immediately unplug.

Silicone Heater Hose

WARNING: The uninstalled pad will become very hot if plugged in longer than a few seconds and could damage the heater. Starting at the edge closest to the power cord, use the plastic scraper to apply solid pressure as you attach the pad to the clean, prepared surface. Smooth the entire pad to the surface. Repeat steps 6 and 7 two more times (2x) carefully avoiding wrinkles, creases and air bubbles. Using the supplied high temperature silicone sealer, apply a small bead around the entire outside edge of the heating pad.

Silicone Heater Pad

DO NOT force the sealer under the pad. It is important to seal the edges of the entire heater pad for weatherproofing. Route and secure the rest of the power cord to a convenient location, such as through the grille. Avoid any moving or high temperature parts (i.e. Exhaust or driveline). Use remaining zip ties to secure/route the power cord. Keep all NON-METAL surfaces such as plastic oil pan covers, noise suppressors, rock guards, fiberglass shrouds, etc., off the heater to avoid melting, warping or heater failure.

AVOID USING THE HEATER FOR 8-12 HOURS AFTER INSTALLATION. Adhesive bond will increase during this time ensuring best performance. Need Answers Fast? Talk to an Expert.
