The company I work for has recently bought a large number of the Covidien Joeys. When we've done our initial inspection before making them patient ready, they have been failing. We have had several unit fail the flow rate check.

We have used our IDAs for testing, and we have also used the Accuracy flow rate test in the service manual. When testing we use water, and in the service manual it states: ' NOTE: The amount of water collected in 30 minutes will be half of the value programmed for the hourly flow rate, within ± 7%, or 0.5 mL, whichever is larger. Since feeding accuracy of the KANGAROO JOEY Pump is based upon formula and not water, a 4% accuracy shift should be applied when testing the KANGAROO JOEY using water. Cub shop manuals. So my question was.can we allow a difference of ± 11% because we are using water? I called technical support at Covidien. Can you BELIEVE that?!?

The woman with customer support said 'The technician refused to take the call because he said you'll have to ask your sales rep on any question related to recertification kits.' I asked her why technical support would direct me to the sales rep when they have no technical experience. She said she didn't know but that she could give me our sales rep's contact info. She would not give me the tech's name that refused the call, she would not give me a manager in tech support, but she did file a complaint for me on their department. Needless to say we still don't have an answer because the sales rep, wait for it.

Hasn't returned our call. Anybody have any experience, suggestions, gripes about these pumps?
