Prior to certification as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, you must successfully complete at least five Adventure Dives. Two of these are mandatory; the Deep Adventure Dive and Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive. The other three dives that you complete can be chosen from a wide range of Adventure Dives and the decision as to which dives you complete will be based on what is available at your dive location and what your PADI Instructor is able to offer. What does it cost? The PADI Advanced Open Water Course online is the course amount nonrefundable.
The fee covers the knowledge development training as well as unlimited access to the entire PADI Adventures in Diving manual online. Your PADI Dive Center or Resort will charge an additional fee for the inwater portion of your certification.

How long do you have to complete the eLearning course? The eLearning course will be available for one year from the time of course registration. Though you must finish the online portion of the course within that time frame, you will have perpetual access to an online version of the PADI Adventures in Diving manual. Your PADI Adventures in Diving manual ebook has the knowledge development segments of the additional Adventure Dives, should you choose to pursue them. How do you document that you’ve completed the eLearning segment? Once you finish the eLearning portion of the course, your dive center is notified that you have completed it and that you are ready for the practical phase of the program.
At the end of the eLearning program, you can print out your eRecord and bring a copy of it with you to your selected PADI Dive Center or Resort.
Only the instructors manuals are made available in electronic formats. PADI won't release the manuals digitally because of copyright issues - they've gone down the 'elearning' route instead. The one resource that you can get electronically is/was the 'Enyclopedia of Recreational Diving'.
